IPL 2025: Season Of Records
IPL 2025: Season Of Records – 25,000 Runs In A Season For The First Time!

The 2025 season of the IPL writes itself into the books with an amazing record – for the first time, and to sheer disbelief over 25000 runs were scored in a single season! More specifically the batsmen, as a group, rung up a whopping 25166 runs which was a record in the league. This was a record that broke the highest number carried forward by the 2024 season, where a collective 24,657 runs were taken.
SKY Lights Up the Season

Mumbai Indians’ hero Suryakumar Yadav was in red-hot form in the entire season. In his 16 appearances, Das amassed as many as 717 runs at an excellent average of 65.18, along with a sizzling strike rate of 167.91. And the most remarkable part of this performance is he’s the first non-opener in the history of the IPL to make over 700 runs in a season.
500+ Club Reaches New Heights

Apart from this record one more peculiar record was set this year – 11 batsmen scored 500 or more runs, the highest ever in an IPL season! The previous record was 8 players in 2021 and 2018. It simply demonstrates the remarkable depth and consistency of performances from the top-order batters this year.
A Star is born: Vaibhav Suryavanshi

Our IPL 2025 discovery was also a fresh young sensation – Vaibhav Suryavanshi of Rajasthan Royals. He etched his name in the record books to become the youngest IPL debutant at 14. And boy, did he make an entrance! Against Gujarat Titans, he produced the whirlwind which smashed 101 off 38 balls.
A Year of Fours and Sixes

It was also the most boundary-punitive season yet! In 74 matches, batters hit 2,245 fours and 1,294 sixes — the most of all time in both cases. For context, the previous record in 2023 was 2,174 fours and 1,259 sixes. Fans of the show certainly got more than their money’s worth this season!
Sai Sudharshan smashes it to all corners of the ground

The stylish opener of Gujarat Titans Sai Sudharshan was also impressive. He aggregated 759 runs in 15 games which included a staggering 88 fours – most by a single player in a season.
Better Averages and High SR’s

It was not just about hitting big – batters were also more intelligent. The season’s overall strike rate was 152.39, the highest in IPL history. Compare that to last year’s 150.58, and you can see just how much faster the pace of the game has become. Even the average score per batter went up to 28.99, better than 2024’s 27.92.
Most Fifties in a Season!

If you love consistency, you’d love this stats: all through the 10 teams, 143 fifties were hit by players this season – the most in any IPL season. The previous high was 141 in 2023.
